Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Senior Spree?

Senior Spree is a parent organized and GradNight hosted event to ensure that Senior students spend their graduation night in a safe and fun environment where their hard work and dedication to their education can be celebrated.

  • Why is Senior Spree important?

According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic collisions are the number one killer of teenagers in America. Nationally about 5,000 teens will die in automobile collisions. Our goal is to have all of our senior students spend their graduation night in a safe and alcohol/drug-free environment.

  • How much are Senior Spree tickets?

For Shorewood's 2024 Senior Spree, the first 75 tickets purchased are $180. After the first 75 tickets are sold, or after March 30th - whichever comes first - the ticket price increases to $195.

Scholarships are available to students who need them. Please reach out to your school counselor if you need assistance.

Additionally, students may also independently fundraise to reduce their ticket price by selling Brown Bear Car Wash tickets.

  • Doesn't our class have tons of money? Why are tickets so costly?

One of the primary expenses for the senior class is their Senior Prom. The class of 2024 has just enough money to fund their senior prom (they have about $19k, and prom cost about ~$20k - yes, its that expensive!). They will make a little off ticket sales for prom, but  they plan to keep the cost quite low, so more kids can go, which is great, considering there are other expenditures the night of prom, too, which can rack up the price by upwards of $200 or so, depending on clothes, if they go to dinner, transportation, corsages/boutonnieres - it all adds up.

Now, since the Grad Night/Senior Spree is an event that happens AFTER graduation and is therefore not a school-sanctioned event, ASB cannot legally 'gift' any money towards the Grad Night Party. So, none of the money the kids make from selling prom tickets can be used for Grad Night.

Unfortunately, a good % of the money the seniors have was actually raised by parents alone at the Boosters Auction, - the bummer is, we cannot use any of those funds for Grad Night.

We also need to have insurance coverage for the Grad Night event - and we can't get insurance coverage for an event like this without going through a company that specifically hosts these Grad Night events. Because of the need for insurance, the cost is higher. Schools all over the greater Seattle area utilize this company (called 'GradNights') to run and host Grad parties - but they have to charge a decent fee to pay for the high insurance policy.

Also, just a few more points of info....because this is a come-back of senior spree at SW, the Spree committee did not have time to do as much fundraising for the event as would be ideal. By fundraising earlier and more, we would have ideally raised more money to help keep costs down. Shorecrest sells Christmas trees every year and makes about 12k to go towards paying for scholarships and reducing their overall ticket cost. Their Spree tickets are I think $170 or so this year.

Also, SW hasn't had a Spree since 2019 - and the cost for Spree that year was $150 (starting cost- then went up to $175 after a certain date), and in 2017 and 2018 the cost was $160-175. So, we are not off-base with our ticket price, as compared with the last 3 years that Shorewood had a Senior Spree.

Finally, this is a >7hour event, packed full of fun activities of all kinds, lots of food, and the safest kind of Grad celebration our kids could have on this special night (as opposed to kids being out and about drinking and driving - which is a common activity kids do on the night of their HS graduation). If you think about it, the kids are getting a big bang for their buck, considering it's 7hrs of fun!

Lastly, the Spree committee has really worked hard to make this event something that ALL students who want to go CAN go. We have set up a way for kids to sell the ever-popular Brown Bear Car Wash tickets, which will deduct from their overall ticket price, depending on how many tickets they sell. For example, if a student sells 10 tickets, their Spree price goes down by $100!!! They could sell tickets to grandparents, neighbors, friends, etc. We also are giving scholarships to kids who really need them - they just need to go in and talk with their counselor.

We highly encourage your Senior to please consider selling carwash tickets to friends and family! This is a super easy way to bring down their cost! ***Additionally, there are several parents who have already purchased their student's Spree tickets, but are willing to purchase Brown Bear Car Wash Tickets to support other grads. Please reach out to us via email so we can connect you with a family who would like to help by purchasing car wash tickets! Here is the car wash fundraiser link to send to family/friends:

  • Where will our seniors be going?

Shhhhh....it's a secret! Parents & guardians will receive an email letting them know where their senio is going  AFTER they depart on the night of the event.

  • What will my student be doing all night?

The fun starts at 11:00 pm and continues until 5:00 am.  Parents have worked very hard to ensure there are plenty of activities, entertainment and food for everyone!

  • How does my senior get to Senior Spree?

All transportation is provided from the pickup location (at the Angel of the Winds Arena grad ceremony) to the various event locations. Students will be returned by bus to Shorewood High School.

We HIGHLY recommend that senior students be picked up at the end of their grad party.  In the past, parents have carpooled to make drop off and pick up more efficient.  Students are usually very tired at the end of a long graduation day and Senior Spree.  Driving home from the event is not recommended.

  • Who will be supervising my senior student?

The event coordinator and event locations have planned for security. Additionally, senior parent volunteers will be supervising students inside and outside the event venues.

  • What should my senior bring?

Dress for weather and plan for indoor activities. Seniors will not need anything extra unless they have an allergy that requires an epi-pen or other medical device.

  • What should seniors NOT bring?

To ensure that the event remains safe and substance free, purses and/or backpacks are prohibited.

Seniors should not bring bags, purses, drugs, alcohol, or money. Grads will be provided everything they need overnight include food and drinks while at Spree. Seniors are encouraged to leave cell phones at home, but may bring them if desired.

  • Will there be photos taken? Will we have access to these photos?

Yes! There will be a photographer at all locations and information will be provided on how to access the photos.

  • What if my graduate becomes ill?

Both venues have somewhat quieter spaces for kids to take a 'break' if they aren't feeling well, or if they just need some down time.  If a student needs to go home, their parents are called and only THEIR PARENTS MAY PICK THEM UP, even if they are 18.

  • If I still have questions, who do I contact?

If you have any questions, please email info@shorewoodseniorspree.com
